Donations help Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen serve 70+ meals per day

(Bristol, Rhode Island) December 10, 2008 – Keller Williams Realty of Newport, a local Real Estate company, has collected food items for the Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen.  The kitchen, which serves about 70 meals per day, anticipates hosting a Christmas dinner and celebration for over 100 East Bay residents this Holiday.

This donation comes at an important time with food banks across the state suffering from low inventory.  In the 2008 status report issued by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, “demand at the twenty largest food pantries increased by 12 percent in the last year.”  In addition, the report states that almost 11% of Rhode Island households do not have enough to eat.

Team Leader Julie Costa says “It is great to see our agents respond to the needs of our Community and recognize that these needs continue after the Holidays.  We have a committee in place which organizes drives and fundraisers all year long.  It is estimated that Keller Williams Realty of Newport donated over $25,000 to local community charities and foundations in 2008.
